Five-ton condenser gone, four floors affected
Restaurant on the ground floor, three floors of apartments above. The twelve-year-old five-ton Carrier rooftop unit lost its compressor in mid-July with the outside temperature at 96 degrees. The restaurant was losing customers by the hour and the management company was fielding calls every twenty minutes.
Crane lift, Sunday morning
Pulled the crane permit and the street-closure permit, both required for rooftop equipment work on a residential building, and coordinated the inspection. Booked a five-ton boom crane for early Sunday to minimise disruption to tenants. Lifted the dead unit off, set the new Carrier package unit, made the electrical and refrigerant connections, vacuum-charged to 500 microns and commissioned it.
Cooling back by Monday lunchtime
Sunday for the crane and the physical install, Monday morning for commissioning, controls integration and inspection. Thirty-eight hours from the first call to a commissioned system, and the building manager added us to their preferred vendor list.
